At Kellys Family Funerals, we’re committed to ensuring the safety of our team, client families and the community.

We know that COVID has presented many challenges for families in all facets of life, and many people have struggled with the restrictions, including those on funeral numbers. In line with the NSW Government’s revised reopening roadmap for 80% vaccination, we are pleased to inform the public about the new arrangements for funerals held from Monday, October 18.

Arrangement and conduct of funeral services

Given what’s happening in our world, we’ve had to make changes to how we plan, arrange and conduct funerals.

We are limiting social contact between the Kellys Family Funerals team and our client families.

Our funeral consultants will organise funeral documentation and arrangement instructions at arm’s length, via email or phone, rather than the usual face-to-face meeting.

Venues

Under the new State Government guidelines:

  • Numbers are restricted to 4sqm per person as long as all attendees are fully vaccinated;

  • If any attendee is not fully vaccinated, the number of attendees will be restricted to 10;

  • Masks must be worn in an indoor venue;

  • Authorised officers will monitor businesses and on the spot fines of $1,000 may apply to individuals for not complying, or for using fraudulent evidence of vaccination or check-in, and on the spot fines of $5,000 may apply to businesses for not complying

Alternate ways to ‘attend’ a service

Alternate arrangements that will give mourners (other than immediate family members) an opportunity to grieve are available. We can organise to live stream the funeral service online or arrange for a video recording. Alternatively, after the crisis period has passed, we can organise a memorial service.

Tribute slideshows

During this period, we need to change our service regarding the compilation of tribute slideshows.

If you are able to email photos to us, we can certainly compile the slideshow. However, we will no longer be handling hard copy photos.

Of course, you can also compile the slideshow yourself and then provide it to us to play on the day.

Publication of Notices

To better manage attendees, we’ll be asking our families to invite attendees personally and suggesting only the publication of death and/or memorial notice.

Care and attention

At Kellys Family Funerals, we are committed to delivering a funeral that best honours the life of loved ones with dignity, and we always strive to ensure the family’s wishes are met.

However, we also need to ensure we operate within the regulations set by the Government and consider the safety of all who attend the funeral, as well as the wider community.

To do so, we will need to ensure all attendees sign in using the ServiceNSW QR Code and provide evidence of their vaccination status prior to entering the funeral.

Please be assured that all the Kellys Family Funerals team that will be managing the funeral are fully vaccinated and will practice and encourage the Government’s advice of mask-wearing and social distancing.

Also, be assured that we at Kellys Family Funerals respect the utmost trust and responsibility that you have placed in us to deliver the very best in service and outcomes for our client and their friends and family.

We will continue to monitor the advice and easing of restrictions, and keep you informed on any future changes.

Thank you for your understanding

We are acutely aware of our role as funeral directors and we thank you for your support and understanding.
